Meenakshi

Meenakshi is a 1/12th scale gorgeous Indian dancer and is about 6 inches tall. She has been created using molds from several artists, but has been poured, painted, wigged and costumed by me.

She wears a traditional ghagri choli. A ghagra is a skirt type garment and is usually brightly coloured and embellished with beads, sequins, mirror-work and embroidered with gold threads or zari. A choli is a blouse. This garment is short and the midriff is usually left bare. The outfit is complimented by a dupatta or scarf.

Meenakshi wears a beautifully coloured silk ghagra in shades of blues, greens, oranges, yellows and more and embellished with lace. Her blouse is also from silk in a deep red which matches her colourful ghagra perfectly. Her blouse has been lace trimmed. Her dupatta falls is soft folds about her shoulders and arms and compliments her ensemble perfectly.

Meenakshi's skin tone is dark, and this is matched by her dark eyeliner and deep maroon lipstick. Her finger and toenails have been painted to match. She has a bindi or traditional red dot in the centre of her forehead. A bindi in traditional times signified that a woman was married, but nowadays it is used more in a fashionable connotation than as a mark of tradition.

Her jewelry comprises hoop gold earrings, a gold bead necklace and gold anklets.

Her hair is black and forms a bun at the back of her head. Residual strands have been curled and frame her face and fall in waves down her back. She wears a floral cloisonne type hair ornament.

I am sure you will fall in love with this doll. She will be a welcome addition to your doll collection.
